What takes place during a vist?

It is essential that you feel comfortable.. You are welcome to be accompanied by a friend if this will help. I will take time to explain everything using plain English. Should you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to raise them.

On your first visit, and before examination begins, I will discuss and record your medical history in detail. You will then normally be asked to remove some of your clothing so that a series of observations and biomechanical assessments can be made. I will then apply a highly developed sense of touch to identify points of weakness or excessive strain throughout the body. Further investigations may include an x-ray or blood tests. This will allow a full diagnosis of the problem and enable me to devise, discuss and agree a treatment plan best suited for your needs (if treatment is appropriate). Should you need further medical treatment needed I may contact your doctor, with your permission.

Treatment times will vary depending upon the needs of the patient. The first consultation may take up to 45 minutes and subsequent visits up to 30 minutes.

You do not need a referral from a GP to see me. Should you have Private Health Insurance please contact your insurance company first to ascertain whether your policy will enable you to gain a reimbursement of your Osteopathic fees.
